Rock Calculator is an independent, free website for estimating rock, gravel, aggregate, sand, and closely related bulk materials. Homeowners, landscapers, contractors, and DIY users can turn project measurements into quantities to discuss with a supplier. The tools do not require sign-up.

The guides explain measurements, ordering assumptions, and supplier-quote comparisons.

Choose the tool for the task: for example, use the Gravel Calculator for a simple layer or the Gravel Driveway Calculator when planning separate courses. The Granite Calculator estimates bulk granite aggregate, not countertops or slabs.

How to Interpret an Estimate

Volume comes from the entered dimensions; weight comes from volume and density in the same material state. Density varies with product, grading, moisture, and compaction. General presets are planning assumptions and should be replaced with supplier or project data when available.

An installed volume and a loose-delivered density require a documented state conversion before they can be combined. Keep compaction or yield separate from a field-loss allowance. Our calculation methodology explains the formulas, unit conversions, and limitations.

Results support quantity planning; they do not certify a material, inspect a site, or replace engineering or pavement design. Confirm final quantities, material suitability, delivery capacity, and current prices with the supplier or relevant project professional before ordering.
