Plate weight follows net material volume

The formula assumes a solid rectangular plate. Holes, cutouts, bevels, perforations, cladding, and attached stiffeners change net weight, while mill tolerances can affect actual thickness. Use the density for the specified material and calculate major removed or added volumes separately when lifting or shipping limits are tight.
