Hollow, tapered, perforated, or composite objects require net volume or manufacturer mass data instead of the gross rectangular box.

Why scale or supplier weight may differ

Hollow sections, chamfers, holes, coatings, alloy or species, moisture, and density variation make a bounding-box estimate inaccurate.
