Wood weight changes with species and moisture

The same nominal board size can have different actual dimensions and very different weight by species, grade, treatment, and moisture content. Enter actual dressed dimensions where possible and a density representing the expected moisture condition. This solid rectangular model does not account for waning, checks, holes, or hardware.

Why scale or supplier weight may differ

Species, moisture content, treatment chemicals, engineered layup, knots, voids, and nominal-versus-actual dimensions can shift weight markedly.
