Worked mortar example

Mortar Calculator example: 449 ft² × 1.1 = 493.9 ft² of order coverage. Dividing by 100 ft² per unit gives 4.94 units, so the purchase quantity is 5 whole units.

Brick or block size, bed- and head-joint thickness, frog or core geometry, tooling, bond pattern, waste, and whether cells or bond beams are filled change bag yield. Enter the manufacturer's stated installed coverage for the selected masonry unit and mortar system; this page does not infer joint volume from wall area alone.

Why the label value may not match the floor or wall

Brick or block size, joint width and depth, tooling, waste on the board, unit absorption, and mason technique can materially change mortar yield.

Why is manufacturer yield better than a generic bag estimate?

Use the net masonry area or unit count represented by the product's published coverage value; do not mix a per-block yield with a square-foot project area.
